History
Probeer started as company in july 1992, mainly as a response on the demand for good fabrics and other materials to make bears.

First of all Probeer is a wholesale company. We deliver stores, companies and bear makers. But we also are a postorder company and we are almost every weekend on fairs in Holland, Germany and Belgium to deliver our goods to the consuming market.
We have a free mail order catalogue that can be ordered.

In the beginning mohair was imported form England in a time when people where working with cotton teddy fabric.
But people wanted a fabric that lasted longer.
That is when we looked for a new producer for mohair..
   

"Reinhard Schulte Florweberei" became our supplier in mohair in 1994. Schulte is the main supplier of mohair to Steiff, one of the best known bear companies in the world. Probeer became the biggest suppliers of mohair in Western Europe. In its program are more than 400 mohair fabrics, cotton, viscose and synthetic fabrics.

Since 1997 Probear is official agent of "Schulte" for The Netherlands and Belgium and also wholesale company for the rest of Europe. Recently Probear also got the agency for France.

Because of the experience on the fairs, we know exactly what people want. New ideas will be discussed with Schulte so we can increase our programme with new fabrics.
   

The new warehouse in Gronau/D

The old store in Enschede (The Netherlands) became too small.
That was when we diceded to build a new warehouse (600 m²) in Gronau (Germany), just across the border, about 20 minutes away from Enschede. We work there ever since june 2001.
Our opening hours are: monday - friday 09.00 - 16.00 hrs.
